Upcoming Event: Introduction to Professional Organizing — Oct 27 · $25

Help Someone I Care About

You can begin the conversation, ask questions, or help fund the service. We will approach your loved one with dignity.

If you are concerned about someone else's home, you may want to help. The most supportive approach respects the person's autonomy and dignity. Here are some principles to keep in mind:

Begin with curiosity and respect, not surprise visits or ultimatums.
Ask what the person wants to be easier or safer in the home.
Offer choices, including helping to pay, being present if invited, or arranging an initial conversation.
Do not remove belongings without permission.
The person receiving the service must consent before an in-home appointment is confirmed.

Consent matters

A concerned loved one may initiate an inquiry or pay for services, but the person receiving in-home help must knowingly agree to the service and retain control over decisions about their belongings. We will not enter the home or make decisions without their agreement.
